Are different Pile Materials available?
Yes, the two main types of pile used in the construction of a washable doormat are nylon and cotton.
Which Doormat pile is right for me?
This really depends on how much foot traffic is coming into your building. For domestic and light commercial use, cotton is recommended as this has the best absorbency and will remove the most moisture. For heavy duty use, nylon pile is recommended as this is extremely hard wearing and is a nylon mat still retains a lot of moisture.
Apart from the obvious, what are the benefits of a machine washable door mat?
A machine washable doormat is particularly easy to look after as it can be placed in the washing machine for easy cleaning. This will thoroughly remove dirt, grit and grime from the mat and help to maintain its appearance. As well as machine washing, they can also be spot cleaned, extraction cleaned or simply hosed off although washing by machine will give the best results and really freshen up your mat.
How to Machine Wash
Whilst it is wise to follow the mat manufacturers instructions generally a 30 degree wash is recommended using a normal fabric detergent.. You should not add fabric conditioner when washing as this can affect the performance of the mat and reduce its absorbency.
